Shockwaves across the nation to hear that actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut was slapped at the Chandigarh airport by a woman personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). People have mixed reactions to this viral video of the assault on Kangana now that she has become a Member of Parliament.
Kaur defended her action
In talks with ANI, the women CISG personnel, Kulwinder Kaur, shared the reason behind her reprehensible action. She defended her act by conveying that Kangana released a statement against the farmers’ protest claiming they are sitting there for a mere 100 INR.
“Would she go and sit there? My mother protested there when she made this remark," Kaur was heard expressing her side.
Remark triggered controversy
A few days ago, Kangana Ranaut ignited a huge controversy by reportedly misidentifying a woman at the farmers' protest as Shaheen Bagh Dadi, an elderly protester known from Delhi's anti-Citizenship Amendment Act demonstrations. She implied that such protesters might be paid participants against the government’s thought initiatives.
Attacker hails from Punjab
As per the reports shared by ANI, the accused CISF personnel who slapped Kangana Ranaut hails from Sultanpur Lodhi in the Kapurthala district of Punjab. She revealed her identity as a sister of farmer leader Sher Singh Malhiwal. She was disturbed by the statement made by Kangana on farmer’s protest and wanted to teach her a lesson.
So far, the police have made a move and an FIR has been lodged against the CISF constable. Also, she was suspended by the higher authorities for her unacceptable behavior.
Kangana addressed the issue
In a following video statement, the ‘newly elected MP’ shared that a CISF personnel had struck her in the face and verbally abused her. "I've been receiving numerous phone calls from the media and my well-wishers. To begin with, I'm safe and perfectly fine. The incident occurred today at Chandigarh airport during the security check. As I exited after the security screening, a CISF security staff member from the second cabin approached, hit me in the face, and began hurling abuses," Ranaut described in her video message.
