The whole nation has its eye on the exit poll of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. With the release of the results, people have different reactions. We know PM Modi has won the Varanasi seat hitting the hat-trick with a majority. The Election Commission released the results of the most anticipated Lok Sabha elections on June 4th, Tuesday. But the overall results are a shock for BJP as it failed to reach the mark of majority this time.

INDIA Bloc made an expected move

As anticipated earlier, the continued counting revealed that the Bhartiya Janata Party was disappointed to make a majority mark on its own for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The coalition of opposition parties known as the INDIA bloc which was established to oppose the PM Modi-led alliance, is leading in 228 seats. Well, this result has defied exit poll results that showed the group would win less than 200 seats.

Defeating Ajay Rai

Well, Varanasi’s seat had the whole nation's attention as PM Modi was up against Ajay Rai.

Here, Modi became victorious with 6,12,970 votes (54.24%) while Rai only got 4,60,457 votes (40.74%).

Indeed, BJP has attained a hat-trick but the win turned out to be bittersweet as the total vote share dropped 9%. In the past two wins i.e. 2014 and 2019, the vote percent was considerably high, 56.37% and 63.62% respectively.

Bagging only 14% of the vote share in 2019, Ajay Rai increased his vote percentage to 40.74% in 2024. Well, as per the analysts, this increase was a sheer result of the seat-sharing agreement between Congress and the Samajwadi Party. Shockingly, SP did not let any candidate from its side compete for any seat.
